① Paint the base
Let’s paint a base coat on the line drawing we started with.
Add a layer under the line drawing.
When you add a layer, you can name it to make it easier to understand.
After adding the layer, select the color of the skin you want to paint in “Color”.
The part of the skin that will be painted in the base layer will take up most of the skin, so adjust the color by painting it on the canvas until you find the color you want.
The horizontal axis is “Saturation” and the vertical axis is “Lightness”.
This time we will paint with a light beige color.
It is helpful to use the Bucket Tool when painting.
Once you have selected the bucket tool, tap on the area you want to paint.
Note that if the line drawing is not closed properly, the entire canvas will be stained.
If the line drawing is not closed, use the pen tool to paint.
After painting with the bucket tool, you may have leftover paint, but you can use the bucket extension to reduce the amount of paint leftover.
If you find any unfilled areas even after using the extension, you can use the pen to fill them in.
Once the paint is clean, the groundwork is done.
② Add a thin shadow
Next, we will add a thin shadow.
Add a new layer on top of the base layer.
After adding the layer, do the clipping.
The clipped layer will no longer protrude from the drawn area where you draw.
Decide where to add the shadows, keeping in mind the three-dimensional effect.
This time we will add shadows to the eyebrows, ears, nose, and neck.
Select a color that is a little darker than the base color and apply it.
③ Add a dark shadow
The next step is to add a dark shadow.
The next step is to add a dark shadow. Layer the dark shadow on top of the light shadow.
In this way, a natural three-dimensional effect is achieved.
The color should be darker than the light shadow.
To avoid too much three-dimensional effect, avoid the face and apply it to the neck and ear holes.
When painting, it is recommended to leave the border between light and dark instead of filling in all the areas where the light shadow is applied.
When the dark shadow is painted, it is complete.
How was it?
In this article, I introduced a 3-step skin application method.
I hope you find it helpful.
