One point technique you can use to finish off your hair with the gradient tool
Have you ever painted your hair with color but felt like it wasn’t enough?
In this article, I’ll show you a technique you can use to finish your illustrations.
I’ll show you how to use it with this girl’s illustration.
As you can see in the picture, she is painting a shadow by clipping on a layer of colored hair.
Applying a Gradation
You can create a more gorgeous look by layering colors in a gradient over your hair color to make the colors more complex.
Create a new layer, clipping it to the hair layer, and change the layer blend to “Multiply”.
Select the Gradient tool and change the type to “Transparent to Foreground Color”.
Choose a color other than your hair color and apply a gradient from the middle of the hair to the ends and from the front to the top of your head.
Create a new layer on top of the gradient layer, draw the highlights and you’re done.
Can you see how much more gorgeous it is than without the gradient?
What did you think?
I’ve layered pink in the example, but you can use other colors as well.
Try different colors to match your hair color!
