【Easy!】How to draw a Glass with a Ruler

Here’s how to draw a cup using a ruler.

① Rough Sketch

Draw a rough sketch.

② Outline

Draw around the object, relying on the rough sketch.
For symmetrical artifacts like a glass, it is easy to see the discrepancy if you draw it without a guide unless you draw it loosely.
For this reason, it is a good idea to use a ruler to draw the outline first.

First, turn on the ruler function.
Select the Pen tool and tap the crosshair ruler at the top of the screen.

A cross ruler is a ruler that allows you to draw a cross line anywhere.

First, measure the width of the line using a rough sketch.

Determine the height and width next.

The next step is to determine the width of the bottom.

 

③ Clean Drawing

Use the outline to make a clean drawing.
You can delete the cross ruler.
Tap the leftmost icon, two steps away from the cross icon, to remove it.

Next, make a circle.
Select the Shape Brush tool on the left side of the screen.

Tap the 〇 icon at the top of the screen.

You can create a circle by sliding it onto the canvas.

Enclose the circle made by the lasso circle. (You can skip this step if you want.)

Tap Selection → Transform.

Adjust it to the outline.

We will follow the same procedure for the bottom circle.
From this view, the vertical thickness of the bottom circle should be longer than that of the top circle.

Then, draw the lines on the side of the cup.
Connect the edge of the top circle and the edge of the bottom circle.
Press the shift key to draw a clean line.
Click from the starting circle and pull the line to the end of the opposite circle while holding down the shift key to draw the line.

You can erase the rough and outline layers, for they will not be used.

Since the cup is thick, erase the edge of the circle.
After that, draw the curved part so that it blends in.

 

To illustrate the thickness of the bottom, create a circle at the bottom by using the shape brush tool -> selection -> transform.
It is better to use a separate layer for the deformation.

Erase the far side of the circle.

 

Erase the edge of the cup of the circle you drew earlier.

 

Connect the end of the upper curve drawn on the inside with the end of the lower curve as before.

 

And, we’re done!

You can also erase the vertical lines on the inside and the curve at the back of the bottom.
It will give you a neat and tidy pattern.
